A moving story of three women thrust together in the heat of war, determined to help their country...
New Year's Eve, 1940: Evie Chase, determined to make a difference to the war effort, joins the ATA, the civilian pilots who ferry Tiger Moths and Spitfires to bases across Britain. Two other women nervously join up: Stella Grainger and Megan Jones. Billeted in a tiny cottage, they must learn to live and work together. Brave, beautiful and fiercely independent, they find romance, confront loss, and forge friendships that will last a lifetime.
About the Narrators
Julia Franklin has a real passion for audiobooks and has been narrating them for over twenty years. Her credits include Faith by Lesley Pearse, Love and Louis XIV by Antonia Fraser and The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes. Julia combines her work as a narrator with radio broadcasting and scriptwriting.
Maggie Mash trained as an actress and worked in the professional theatre before starting her broadcasting career in Forces Radio. Later branching into voice-over work, Maggie now records audio books and provides the voice for such things as airlines' in-flight videos and the national mental arithmetic SATS tests. Her voice is perhaps best known for the years in which she was continuity announcer at Yorkshire Television.
Maggie has a gift for languages and is fluent in French, Italian, Spanish and Greek. She has narrated a number of titles for us, including Tell It To The Skies by Erica James. Her experience provides her voice with an authenticity when narrating a novel that can bring to life male and female characters of all ages and backgrounds.
